What the petition asks for: The petition hosted on the NSW Liberal Party website, promoted by Chris Rath MLC, calls on the NSW Government to reconsider the proposed seven-storey building height, protect neighbourhood character and amenity and extend public consultation so residents have a meaningful opportunity to be heard.

Why signing may help

SSD-147352238: Prepare EIS. The NSW Planning Portal currently shows the proposed residential development at the Prepare Environmental Impact Statement stage, not public exhibition or determination. The formal application and supporting studies are being prepared.
The initial Homes NSW feedback period closed on 7 October 2026. You can still write to Homes NSW to request answers or design changes, but feedback sent now should not be described as a submission made within that earlier consultation period.
Recommended actions now:
- Ask Homes NSW for a lower-rise option: request a documented comparison between the seven-storey proposal, stepped upper floors and a three-storey alternative, including housing yield and impacts.
- Request the evidence: building separation and setbacks under the Apartment Design Guide; sightline/privacy plans; 21 June hourly shadow diagrams covering adjoining homes and Coral Sea Park; traffic and parking analysis; trees and deep soil; and construction/demolition safeguards.
- Review the SEARs and EIS: follow the official project register, read the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements and assess the Environmental Impact Statement when published.
- Prepare a formal objection for exhibition: record your specific impacts, attach photos or observations, cite relevant plans and ask for a reasoned response to each issue. A petition does not replace a formal submission.
- Ask about demolition separately: the earlier Part 5 demolition process (P5-2026-246) is a distinct assessment; seek clear answers on asbestos, dust, traffic, trees and protection of neighbours.
